How much does a home security system cost?

That’s a tough question, because all of our systems are customized for the needs of each customer.  However, our base home alarm plan, using Honeywell’s Lynx Plus, starts at $21.95 a month, and includes 24-hour monitoring at our local monitoring station.  We have several other affordable options that include doorbell cameras, indoor and outdoor cameras, remote access, and more!

Can I control my home or business security from my phone?

Yes, you can—and we make it simple.

For the home, we offer either the Lyric app or Total Connect 2.0 app (free!) that allow you to control either your security system, your thermostat, or both, remotely from your phone or tablet.

Your business can certainly set up a wireless system that can be controlled remotely.  Acadiana Security Plus also offers video and CCTV, with digital video recorders that provide offsite viewing via web browser or smart phone.

Can I have monitoring without a home phone line?

Yes! With the installation of a wireless cellular communicator, we can effectively monitor your alarm system. In fact, with a wireless system, a whole world of great upgrades are available with Total Connect Remote Services—view live video and video doorbell events, locate vehicles or assets, control thermostats, lighting and locks, even receive text messages and email alerts, anytime, anywhere on your smartphone.

Why should I keep my services active and monitored if my system will still work at home, and I can monitor it myself?

If you have monitored fire devices, they can report a signal to us even if your alarm system is not actually set. You can worry about getting you and your family out of your home safely, and Acadiana Security Plus can handle the rest. You may also qualify for a significant discount through your homeowner’s insurance agency with a monitored system. 

Is my agreement transferrable to my new location if I were to move?

Yes, your agreement is fully transferrable to your new location or to the new owners of your previous location, if the new owners are interested in having a monitored security system.

What Is home automation and how does it work?

Home automation gives you control of all of your connected wireless systems through your phone, tablet, system controller or, with the Elan system, through Amazon’s Alexa.

Can I have two forms of communication with the monitoring station?

Yes, you may communicate via landline and wireless cellular communicator, with one acting as a back up to the other, in the occasion that one of the forms of communication were to fail for any reason.

Why isn't my app working?

For Total Connect, make sure you’ve downloaded the most current version of Total Connect 2.0 (TC 2.0). You can also access your account on the website www.totalconnect2.com using the same log in information as your app.

If you previously used Secure Smart, Secure Smart Alarm, or IPfob apps, you will now need to download the app for Alula Security. You can use the same log in information you used for the previous apps.

Our tech/app support staff are in the office Mon-Fri  8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. if you continue to have issues.

Why isn't my system chiming?

If you find that your system no longer beeps or “chimes” when a door is opened, for most systems you can enter your 4 digit code followed by the number 9 on your keypad. The number 9 is the “chime” command and it should display whether the chime was just turned on or off. Try opening a door again once you’ve confirmed the chime is turned on. Often this feature gets turned off by accident.

If the system still won’t chime as normal, or if your keypad does not have an option that clearly shows “chime,” you can call our monitoring station to test the system with you; they can write a service order for your system, if necessary.

Will I be charged for a technician to service my alarm?

While we cannot warranty intentional damage to equipment, rodent damage, remodeling, acts of nature or batteries in wireless devices, we encourage you to please call our service department with any questions you may have about possible service fees.

Our service coordinators will work with you to find the best pricing solution or warranty option for you and are in the office Mon-Fri 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

When will my technician arrive?/Where is my technician?

Our normal service hours are Mon-Fri 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. We cannot guarantee a specific arrival time for our technician. While we try our best to get a technician to you at a time of day that is most convenient for you, sometimes the technician may run earlier or later than anticipated.

Please call our service department if you have scheduling concerns or time constraints for service. Our coordinators are in the office Mon-Fri 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m
