CHALLENGE
Our builder customer was building a high-end custom home to be presented in the Parade of Homes and wanted some integrated features in the home without breaking the bank. They were looking for a security system, camera system, doorbell camera system, thermostat control, door lock control, and a home theater and whole house audio system. They wanted all these various systems to be controlled by one device.
SOLUTION
For security, we chose a Honeywell Vista 20 Panel with a Tuxedo Keypad, giving us a platform for automation of the Honeywell thermostats and Kwikset door lock. A Hikvision camera/DVR system was chosen to surveil the perimeter of the house and a Skybell doorbell camera covers the front door. A Bose BUILT-INvisible theater system was installed in the living room to provide an unobtrusive, yet immersive, theater experience. A Bose SoundTouch system was selected to give great music throughout the other areas of the house. All of these systems are controlled by various apps on the in–wall mounted Apple iPad.
RESULTS
The house was the hit of the Parade of Home having over 2500 visitors during the two weekends of the Parade. The house welcomed guests with music from the Bose system and demonstrated the convenience of these easy-to-use automated features. Although only one family will be lucky enough to live in this fabulous house, many have seen what is possible to have on a reasonable budget.
