CHALLENGE
A chemical manufacturer with locations in Louisiana and Texas with chemical delivery trucks arriving and departing throughout the day at loading sites was seeking a Mass Notification System. Although the company has stringent procedures and processes in place for dealing with hazardous chemicals and mixing processes, it does not come without risks. In order to properly prepare for a spill leak or fire at any of the locations, they recognized that having the ability to rapidly notify all potentially affected personnel at a moment’s notice was critical.
SOLUTION
The customer reached out to us to assist them with identifying a simple, scalable, yet effective mass notification solution that would not break the bank. Tasked with this request, we sought out and sifted through the multitude of solutions on the market and developed a relationship with a provider offering exactly what the customer was seeking, a cost effective mass notification solution that was scalable and would work not only with most of today’s smart phone devices, and IP office phone systems, but with older text based phones as well.
This solution would not only satisfy the immediate need of direct mass notification of employees in the event of an emergency, but it would also provide them with the ability to send routine and non-routine notifications to employees for non-emergency purposes as well.
RESULTS
The customer now has a mass notification system that will allow an employee to activate the system from a smart phone or by simply pushing a button in the event of an emergency. The system also allows the customer to send out direct notifications to all devices including desktops on their network regarding safety meetings, staff meetings, safety alerts and even reminders regarding license renewals for their drivers individually.
And since the pricing is based on the total number of devices on the system, they were able to begin with employees directly affected by a potential emergency situation and later grow it to include personnel offsite at a separate corporate office location as well.
